Escaping Poverty
Escaping poverty
“It’s not easy, but it can be done”.
Be Inspired and Empowered with Sophie Patel, overcoming many barriers such as domestic violence, abuse, and poverty. She now stands tall doing everything she enjoys whether this is her career, her hobbies, or being a Mum to two beautiful children.
Sophie Patel comments, “Just when you think you are on track, something will always come in your way. These obstacles are what will make you just that little stronger each time so, embrace it and take it on like the strong person you know you are. I remember a time when I thought how am I going to get through this cold snowy winter with no money for the gas meter, no money for healthy food, no money for winter clothes. I still wonder how I managed it. What I do remember is snuggling up in my bed and waiting for days to pass watching ‘Wuthering Heights’ on my college laptop – telling myself It’s only for a short while. And look where I am now. A lovely home, beautiful children, heating, food, and my career I worked so hard for”.
The brighter future seems impossible. You are stuck in the same sorry arse circle. Each time you take a step forward, something takes you 10 steps back. We have been there, we have experienced it. Sophie helps us by sharing her journey, holding our hands each step of the way, believing in us, and supporting us. Some of us have dreams of starting a business but have no direction, Sophie helps us with our strategy and vision, a passion she uses to help others escape the nightmare of living in poverty.
Sophie has further gone on to help homeless individuals with job interviews, providing clothes and practice interviews. Sophie comments “I’ll never forget my struggles, how lonely I felt, how isolated I became and how people did not have hope in me. I live to help others”.
